Fast and twisty descent out of Norma. So much fun.

Flat and fast once again, proper straight roads but then got a little more interesting when riding along the coast.

You can tell there are a lot of cyclists around Caiazzo as in the morning we left and saw lots of groups heading out. Caiazzo sits on a

The day started with a pretty savage 8-kilometre (5-mi) climb but was worth it for the descent.

Then a nice 30 kilometre (19-mi) or so but as we got closer to Roma, things got hectic. And then Roma was next level hectic. But cool to see all the history.

The road out of Pontremoli was a lovely way to start, climbing a bit with some nice views, heading through some little villages and towns.

Once you hit the beach, it’s a long stretch of either riding on the main road and stopping at the lights all the time, or riding on the bike path with leisure cyclists

We landed in the town of Fornovo di Taro for lunch BUT, it was a Monday, with many places shut, and the one place that was open, wasn’t serving pizza…shop

Riding out of Milan wasn’t the best – long bike path followed by main roads and only a handful of nice roads despite covering 100 kilometres (62 mi). Very fast and flat, but busy main roads.

We decided to stop in Brescia which seemed a lovely town and stopped for lunch just off of a main square – great

Part of the reason I loved the riding in Cambodia is that you’re never far from rough gravel tracks or a newly built, perfectly tarmacked main road. However, if you want a smooth drive travelling north to south in the west of the country, you have to be willing to take huge detours back to

Not the most inspiring day, but riding into Ho Chi Minh City was a rollercoaster and has traffic so unique to anywhere I’d been so far. HCMC is a city of about 9 million, but within it are over 7 million motorbikes.

That’s nearly three times the amount of cars that we have in London, and then
