Last part of the trip. The roads going up are better than the ones going down, so we couldn’t fully get back the speed rolling down. We had to cross cloud layers multiple times and were happy to have good wind protection. Getting the bikes back to Vientiane was a challenge. Busses don’t take them. We met a bike packer who managed to bring his bike on a minibus to Vang Vieng. We send them with HAL logistics to Vientiane, what took 4 days. We took the train, which requires booking well in advance.

Due to limited accommodations on the way, we had to break down the 130km to Luang Prabang into 50+80 km. The Kiokajan Guesthouse is the last option to stay overnight.

Our planned route had a dead end at a river crossing without bridge, ferry or ford. So we had to turn back to the main road. Conditions were difficult due to many, deep potholes we had to slowly drive around. So we started planning shorter distances.
