Today we hiked through a lot of sand in a landscape that was more reminiscent of the Lüneburger Heide than the Emsland. Juniper and a historic sheep 🐑 pen complete the impression. You repeatedly encounter burial mounds from the Bronze 🥉 Age and megalithic graves.

Kateeker means squirrel 🐿️ here in Emsland in Low German. Didn't meet any squirrels 🐿️ or Easter bunnies. But saw plenty of wonderful signposts for pilgrims along the way

Today's tour had everything that the Hümmling is known for. Rural idyll, past eight impressive megalithic stone graves from the Stone Age and a Bronze Age burial mound field. Time and again it went along the Nordradde. The mill ruin in Stavern is definitely worth it and should absolutely be a destination for the hike.

The hike started at Clemenswerth Castle 🏰. The hunting lodge is particularly impressive with its landscaped park. Deer 🦌 Heinrich is the guardian of all watercourses. I particularly liked the signposts for pilgrims (wrought iron cross ♣️ on a stone 🪨).

We started our Easter weekend's first hike at the particularly artistically 🧑🎨 decorated St. Clemens Church in Holte-Lastrup. On the further hiking trail, you can observe the soil profile in a sandpit, as is typical for the geest landscape. The highlight of the hike, however, is the megalithic tomb

Before my volunteer work for the Landesgartenschau in Leinefelde completely takes me over in my function as path warden, I quickly did a control round. Most of it was in order and what was striking was the abundance of wild garlic on the right and left of the hiking trail.
I will probably never get used

Today's hike led around Horneburg in the Alten Land. The surroundings of Horneburg are characterized by very diverse landscapes, namely the Elbmarsch, one of the large fruit-growing regions in the southwest of Hamburg, the Geest area, and the Aue river valley, which is protected as a nature reserve

Just before the snowdrops faded, I quickly took a walk around the church in Werdigeshausen 💒. The weather wasn't great, but the snowdrops made the walk worthwhile.

Today's hike had been on my to-do list for a long time, as I've already hiked several sections of it.
I started bright and early at -8.6°C by train 🚆 and bus 🚌 to Eigenriede and set off with my headlamp.
The Rennstieg trail was first mentioned in 1448 and is an old messenger route along the ridge and

The start and end of our hike today were in Vrees, a truly beautiful village in the Hümmling, which rightly bears the designation "Golddorf" (Golden Village). 2/3 of the hike were just distance, but with its fields, wet biotopes, and forests, the varied character of this tour offers the opportunity to
