I woke feeling fairly well at 05:00. The morning light made the hills look amazing. Id slept right through. The finishing descent the previous night had left me pretty cold and looking for a suitable camping spot took longer than it should have. I woke up super dehydrated with a hilariously swollen face. This was the coldest night of the trip and getting going in the morning took some effort. No appetite for

I was determined to start the day early to avoid another late-night. After getting mostly packed away for half 7 a few locals started turning up for a swim. Too tempted I decided to knock up another coffee and go for a dip.
Back on the road I hoped to get the 70km to Glasgow done before 1. I stopped

Day 2 started with a fresh dip in the Loch and a chilled-out breakfast taking in the view. Setting out later than I planned I headed out to see more of the Highlands and wasn’t disappointed.
The gravel tracks to Corrour were easy going in comparison to yesterday’s riding. No regret not pushing on in the

I had spent the night on the Caledonian Sleeper from London Euston – Inverness and an unexpected room upgrade meant I had my own shower and toilet. The appreciation of this somewhat diminished the next morning when the water cut out and I had to stand for 20 minutes lathered up waiting for it to come

I started the day slowly. My legs tired and feeling pretty relaxed at the 155km ahead of me, I packed my stuff away and headed to the shop before knocking up the last coffee of the trip. I have to say the pay off in mood for the extra kilo or so the grinder and coffee stuff I added to my pack was proper
