About Guido

After a night with a camp site on the abyss, but "room with a view", the remaining minutes are spent doing a little lye. Then back to the lake and the somewhat longer, but also knee-friendly route over the Laugenalm back to the Gampenpass.
Many people had the same idea on Sunday ... to stop at the Almwirtschaft around 2 p.m., because of overcrowding and the expected waiting time.

In the afternoon, ascent into adventure ... The Laugen is not particularly high at 2400 meters. But he stands alone, so that you can see almost all of South Tyrol in all directions ...
The ascent of a good 900 meters from the Gampenpass is very steep in the direct line, especially in the first part. In about 2 hours you are at the Laugensee and you will be rewarded with the wonderful scenery there. It is then about half an hour to the summit. Usually you climb up the right flank and descend via the left flank.

Today, according to Komoot, I didn't arrive at the same place that I started from. And I was 200 m below sea level ... Conclusion: I think the satellite had quite a problem today to find me ... 🤣

At first I just wanted to complete the biotope circuit that was unfinished last week - against the direction of travel from last time, i.e. counterclockwise.
But then the path known from last year turned out to be inaccessible: it was completely overgrown into the biotope. So a few searching lines were drawn through the apple rows, where the farmers prepare for the upcoming harvest with large boxes, mown grass and cut shoots.
After reaching the biotope, I still had the power to run an extra loop up and down the Falschauer river: First inside the dam, along the river, which has swelled significantly due to the flood of power from the electrical works. Then straight back over the dam: speed up again on the last few meters: the attempt to get over the average of 10 km / h fails 🏃

It glitters ... mostly turquoise, but varied from emerald green to deep blue! The Brandenberger Ache has dug its way deep into the gorge. Now it reveals breathtaking views of rugged rock layers, waterfalls roar here and there into the depths, elsewhere they trickle leisurely over the moss stairs. The river also spreads, pours over limestone stairs formed by nature, shoots squeezed through the narrowness ...
A secured hiking trail meanders along the gorge, sometimes orographically to the left, sometimes to the right: it goes through the shade of the trees, under the rays of the sun on the slopes, and we sometimes stand bolt upright above the rushing water.
Usually a railing protects. Nevertheless: surefootedness, attentiveness and good footwear are important in any case. This is also shown by a plaque commemorating the misfortune of a girl who fell into the depths - and the mother who jumped after her and also died.
Sometimes kayakers or adventurers will find their - guided - pleasure in the thrill on inflated car tires or various forms of canyoning.
A snack bar at the end of the hike. Grateful for refreshment: The food is not exceptional, but it satisfies hunger ;-)

It didn't quite work out to climb the Hohe Weisse. This would have required both hands to be fully functional.
Otherwise, the condition was at the limit. That doesn't diminish the joy and satisfaction of having once again climbed properly in our wonderful mountains ... and seeing how the Stettiner Hütte, which was destroyed by an avalanche in 2014 and is now modern and functional, thanks to hardworking craftsmen Aiming for completion in the coming year.

Only Komoot knows where I built the peak in altitude on my flat route ... or the satellite made a hop 🤣
The biotope, on the other hand, is always worth a detour!

Unfortunately, a nice excursion ends on the asphalt shortly before returning home. I'll spare you the pictures of leg and arm ... enjoy the landscape. And the dance of death reminds us that there are worse things and that we should be happy about life!
