Tighnabruaich circuit

Plenty of hills on this cycling circuit. Mostly single track tarmac, but from Tighnabruaich, the A8003, has some local and tourist traffic, it’s a 2-way fast road. Everything else is extremely quiet. The very minor road over the hill to Otter ferry is a step back in time. Also very…

Walk to Jerah then Dumyat - circular from Menstrie

Straightforward tracks and way marked paths. Ascent up Dumyat is quieter and less steep than the direct Menstrie route. Amazing views for such a wee hill.

Exploring Tiree

It always seems to be windy on Tiree. Our route was from Heanish to Scarinish for supplies and a coffee, then we started our exploration proper. Birdlife is stunning, beaches awesome…it was dry, sunny and warm so we didn’t mind the wind. The Hynish/Skerryvore lighthouse site is really interesting, the…

Glen Prosen circuit

Park at Dykehead carpark, which isn’t easy to spot. Follow the quiet road to Prosen village. Return over the bridge, take narrow road to Pearsie estate (big house). Past the estate now turn at the crossroads back to Prosen bridge and then to Dykehead. Some good descents, hills not too…

A quiet loop walk in a coppiced oak wood that is filled with bird song in the spring. Very unlikely to meet anyone else. Signposted at the main road as it’s an Angus core path. Parking at roadside difficult.

Glen Kendrum, Lochearnhead, to Creag MacRanaich

Store Mosse

One of the biggest, straightest boardwalks I have ever been on… mix of woodland, scrub and open countryside. Enjoyed the big open spaces, we were too early for the main spring bird migrants, saw the Cranes which was nice.
