Day 21 Tarifa to Bolonia
Beautiful coastal walk. Virtually walked the whole way on the beach or paths next to beach. Some rocky areas to go over along the way. Watched kite surfers around half way and then near the end it was the turn of the wind surfers. The Roman ruins right at the…

Day 20 El Pelayo to Tarifa
Steady walk down from Huerta Grande and then hit the coast and Morocco came into full view. Walked all along the coast to Tarifa with Morocco and the Strait of Gibraltar to our left. A tricky, narrow coastal path in parts. A surprising number of bulls and cows grazing/ sleeping…

Day 19 Los Barrios to Pelayo
A 5 hr steady, winding climb on wide mountain track gave some great views back over Los Barrios, the industrial port of Algericas and Gibraltar. Lots of evidence of landslides over whole mountain from the winter storms. There are warning signs all the way but today was a very hot…

Day 18 Castillo de Castellar to Los Barrios
Stunning sunrise seen from top of the castle. Good walk down from the castle, could see Rock of Gibraltar getting closer and larger. After 10K saw lots of Storks and their huge nests in pylons and trees. Walked through farmland but had to take a long detour ( on road…

Day 17 Jimena de la Frontera to Castillo de Castelar
Relatively flat most of the day walking alongside river and railway track. Main excitement was having to cross two fairly rapid and slippery weirs without shoes and socks. The river has flooded its banks making a section impassable. Had to divert about 2 km. Long steady climb for last 5km,…

Day 15 Cortes de la Frontera to El Colmenar

Really deep and lush. Sat watching huge Griffon vultures relatively close up and 4 baby wild boar scurried past us…

Day 10b. El Chorro to Carratraca
Amazing walk. Started the day with an extremely steep, tough and long climb( 5K) out of El Chorro( on the 1-10 of the Justine scale it was an 11). Exceptional views back down the valley though and the hydro electric plant up to a huge reservoir. Continued through beautiful countryside,…
