Defiantly a ride for tubeless tyres. My friend, who was running tubes had 13 punctures! We had to make an emergency detour to Halfords in Burton. If you don't have that problem, ignore the route detour at Barton and carry on up canal.
Surfaces are mostly good. Consal Forge - Cheddleton and Stone - Great

Tour linking up a number of gravel sections. None of which are very taxing. Overall Gravel rating 2/5 and in dry you would be fine on 38mm.
I had a lot of time to kill so actual ride time is closer to 3hr

Tissington offers an alternative start and has public toilets but the car park is Pay and Display. Thorpe is free and only an 1.5m easy pedal further down.
Loads of supplies along route. Shop wise there is a co-op at Darley Dale and Calver, and Post Office at Youlgrave.

Can start at Ashbourne Tunnel which has a small pay and display car park and small snack bar which is open in summer months. Would recommend starting at Thorpe station though, it’s a larger car park and it’s free.

It's a bit lumpy in places. Should be manageable on 40mm tyres but wouldn't go much less. There is a few false turns on the track if you download it, so beware.
I'd make a few changes if doing it again.
