The cars dropped us of at Gergeti Trinity Church. After having had a look at the church we started for the Sabertse Pass. Coming over the crest at the pass, with Mt. Kazbegi and the terrain around revealed, was breathtaking. From here we walked down again, in weather that shifted rapidly from sunshine to rain and back again, this time all the way down to the village, and to the hotel. Annoyingly enough the GPS glitched a little on the way back today, accounting for the long straight line in the track log, but other than that everything went super.

We broke camp again and headed for Juta, where we would be picked up by the cars. This last part of the hike went through a beautiful green valley, on a winding, mellow trail. Lots of horses and cows. Sorry to leave these parts of the mountains behind, but we have one more day of walking tomorrow.

Today we didn’t break camp as the goal was Mukhadze (3276 m) and back again. This hike was only around 3km each way, but on the short distance we covered around 700 meters of elevation. We were lucky with the weather again, and were able to have lunch on the top, which offered some extraordinary views.

After breaking first camp the hike took us from the green lake, past the blue lake, and towards today's main ascent - approximately 700 meters of elevation up to the Chaukhi Pass. This went well, and the weather was with us, again. After lunch on today's highest point the trail took us gradually down into the valley towards our next camp, not far from Chaukhi lake. We had some rain and hail on the final leg, but nothing serious, and before sundown we had beautiful weather once again, as well as a rainbow.

We drove from Tbilisi in the morning and arrived in Roshka in the early afternoon. This day's hike went uphill - always uphill - through the beautiful green valley until we reached our first camp by the Abedulauri Green Lake, one of the three Abedulauri lakes beside the Blue and the White.
