Day-182

I also completed Nevada’s highest year-round paved pass, Mt. Rose Summit (8,911 ft / 2,716 m). I had crossed this pass three times before when I lived in Reno, Nevada, but I didn’t have any GPS records. So this was my fourth time crossing it, and this time I recorded…

Day-176

I completed Sherman Pass, the highest pass in Washington State, at 5,575 ft (1,699 m). It was a challenging climb since I started at around 390 meters (1,280 ft). I still have three more passes to cross in Washington, but the highest one is complete. 🚴‍♂️⛰️

Day-172

It was a long day, but McKenzie Pass is complete. 🚴‍♂️
At 5,187 ft (1,581 m), I spent miles cycling through ancient lava fields. Some of these lava flows were formed by volcanic eruptions around 1,500–3,000 years ago. Definitely one of the most interesting roads I’ve ridden so far. 🌋

Day-171

The crater is still clearly visible, and the huge dark area surrounding it was formed by lava that spread out and cooled after the eruption. The lava even reached the Deschutes River and changed its course.
