Decided to reprise a Sustrans route ( their little pocket maps have a few suggested circular routes on the back ) climbing up to Tan Hill for lunch, then dropping down to Swaledale and back to Kirby Stephen through Birkdale.

I actually tend to park at the Hebden Bridge end, cycle to Steeton solo and then cycle to Hebden Bridge with Mrs Pab, getting there in time for lunch.

The cassette on the bike stopped working part way up the hill out of Settle so I could only freewheel from there on, so I followed the route as far as the Winterburn turn off and then dropped down to Gargrave and the train.
