To Burnt Mill Lock & Back
It’s been years since I was last here, and I’d forgotten just how charming the towpath is. It’s narrow in places, so you often find yourself squishing into the hedge to let people coming the other way pass, but somehow that just adds to the experience.
In some stretches, where…

Double loop around Everleigh
After nearly melting in last weekend’s heat, I opted for the comfort blanket of a familiar loop, twice.
Still getting a hang of this fuelling mid run thing, so from about 18km onwards my legs felt like they didn’t belong to me anymore. On the plus side, at least it…

Too damn hot 🥵
Misjudged it a bit today, should have brought more water! Overestimated my ability to deal with the heat and not perish in full 🌞
Properly fried by the end 🪦 (I had to take a couple of breaks)
Still, it’s the furthest I’ve ever run, so that’s something at least…

Absolutely crazy day for it, well done!! 👏 Swear I was in thermals and winter boots just last weekend, lol.

Abbots Well – New Forest National Park loop from Woodgreen
Really nice running route 😊 Like most of the trails in the New Forest, it’s mainly gravel paths. The elevation comes in short, sharp bursts too, so it gave my legs a battering at times 😅.
Around 12–14km in, it gets a bit more awkward underfoot. The gravel disappears and…

Wander at Downton, Pepperbox Hill And Clearbury Down Circular
My car was in for a service at Downton, so I went for walkies while I waited. The route had a few hills, but nothing too challenging. The views were decent, though the highlights were definitely the river crossings.

The conditions in May were excellent, though it’s been a long stretch without any rain! The trail was mostly quiet, which made for a peaceful hike. I’d always wanted to see the Lansdowne Monument, so it was a bit disappointing to find it boarded up at the bottom. The walk took me a bit longer than expected

Got there a bit late, so parking was a nightmare. I started the trail from the beginning, but had to walk a bit from Lynton to get there. Ended up finishing back where I parked.
