About British Pilgrimage Trust
Welcome to the BPT Komoot account. Here we have provided a range of some of the most popular pilgrimage routes in the UK which can be followed through the Komoot app on your smartphone. There is a lot more information on each of the routes shown here on the BPT website (britishpilgrimage.org) so please do visit us there.

There is a lot more available from our website:
– we provide free access to a pilgrim route network that currently has over 250 routes across Britain with maps, photos and info;
- we provide a Britain-wide Sanctuary low-cost pilgrim hostel accommodation network;
– we provide online guides to introduce concepts, logistics and practices to help you make your own pilgrimage (see ‘How To’ section);
– we publish our book Britain’s Pilgrim Places (600 places and 100 routes), and promote other books such as Magical Britain, and individual route guidebooks;
– we communicate the way pilgrimage answers modern needs;
– we form an online community of pilgrims and BPT Friends, and also work with local communities on the ground.

    Bookended by two of West Yorkshire's finest churches, the historic Dewsbury Minster and Bradford Cathedral, this pilgrim route between the two is given over to contemplation of less formal spiritual matters: sustainability and some interesting public artworks. You can get more information on this pilgrimage route and download the gpx for the other pilgrimage routes into Bradford from the British Pilgrimage Trust website (https://www.britishpilgrimage.org/portfolio/bradford-cathedral-pilgrimage-in-a-day).

    Follow in the footsteps of Laurie Lee through the landscape that shaped Cider with Rosie and so much of his life’s writing. This gentle 5-6 mile circular pilgrimage winds through the Slad Valley in Gloucestershire, one of the most beautifully preserved pockets of the Cotswolds, where steep beech woods, wildflower meadows and hidden springs form a natural amphitheatre around the village he called home. You can get more information on this pilgrimage route from the British Pilgrimage Trust website (https://www.britishpilgrimage.org/portfolio/laurie-lee-way).

    Follow in the footsteps of pilgrim and mystic Margery Kempe Explore the haunts of Margery Kempe, a remarkable visionary and mystic who lived in King’s Lynn in the fifteenth century and went on incredible pilgrim journeys: including to Santiago, Rome and Jerusalem, the three most significant shrines in the Christian World. These were hugely challenging journeys for a woman to undertake at the time. A 12-day pilgrimage following in the footsteps of Cadfan, a 6th-century Welsh saint Start at the seaside town of Tywyn in mid-Wales and explore a 128 mile coastal route to Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island), a place of enduring Christian significance once known as ‘the isle of 20,000 saints’. Along the way you’ll visit remote churches, travel along rugged coastlines and experience the quiet beauty of holy places. In all you can visit 17 historic churches and holy wells along the way. A route with a rich pilgrimage heritage The little Norfolk village of Walpole St Peter has a unique place in the history of pilgrimage. It was the birthplace of Godric, the first English layperson to journey to Jerusalem, Rome and Santiago, which he did in the year 1102. Godric later abandoned the sea and became a hermit at Finchale, near Durham.
