I like walking, cycling and running mostly around my home county of Devon. Can never stay indoors for a whole day. Keep up the adventures!

2 day hike with overnight camp on the coast

It was beautiful but challenging, and I decided to take the road to Land's End after Lamorna cove because the path is very technical and quite dangerous on places especially with a bad knee. Nice to finally finish at Land's End with around 100 miles of 🥾 🥾 done in Cornwall. Caught the 1 bus from Land's End back to Penzance to find a good fish and chips and camp before I head home. Thanks for following

Hike from Hayle - St Nicholas chapel

Many things to see and do. St Ives has a number of beaches and the much larger Carbis bay beach en route. There a lot of galleries, shops and quirky buildings including places to eat and drink of course. There's also a number of boat tour operators that head out for Seal watching. Be ready for a seagull assault if you eat your food out in the open. I took shelter in a narrow street to eat my ice cream. Also, the boat trip to the lighthouse made a nice change from walking!

Camp then coast walk Perranporth - St Agnus

Started the day with overnight camp on the sand dunes in Newquay, then bus 87 to Perranporth, a major surf 🏄‍♂️ hotspot. The walk to St Agnus provides some of the most spectacular coastal scenery through an old mining site set into the cliffs. It took me 3.5 hours just to walk less than 4 miles, as the coast path is challenging with loose gravel and narrow paths. Had a glorious rest leant against a soft grassy bank of an old WW2 fort. Knee still in pain but enjoying every second.

Hike around Newquay

Very good, Atlantic seas breeze and views, got a new head 🔦 in town. Still limping on hills due to sprained knee, so having a hiking pole has been extra useful. I'm learning to walk in a different way to make walking easier, I have to use my right leg for all knee bending up and down. Walked bare foot in the cold sea at Fistral beach and it was a lovely feeling to wash my hot feet and sore toe, plus some excellent photo opportunties and sense of grounding. I used to visit Newquay a lot on my holidays to Cornnwall but discovered a lot of new places, including an old Pilchards signalling hut dated back to medeavel Cornwall. It's the white hut 🛖 type building in the photos.

Par Sands and coast walk

Overnight stay in the church door yard, knee feeling quite a lot better today but hills and steps still cause pain so doing much shorter moderate walks for a while. I almost lost my stick and phone to the sea doing a 🤳

3 day 🚶‍♂️ into Cornwall, stopped due to knee pain

Original plan was to walk the full Cornish Celtic Way to St Michael's mount, starting from Plymouth and taking the ferry to Mnt Edgcumbe. On day 1 I walked 15.8 miles to St Germans Priory, the official start of the CCW. The first night i slept in an eco toilet shed outside the church, then on day 2 woke up at 5am and pushed myself over 20 miles of difficult terrain to make it to Polruan, and at some point I must have jarred my left knee. I registered the pain in the last 2 miles of the day, but I was rewarded with a stay over at St Saviours Church in Polruan, which had open doors, kettle, charging sockets and the whole church to myself. St Saviours is part of the CCW route and allows you to get your passport stamped there.I was hoping that by day 3 the knee pain would have gone but I was soon suffering with every step, especially on any slopes which are continuous in Cornwall. I took the road to Luxulyan and had to be careful of speeding cars on the bends to get to there as it was quicker and less painful. Finished for a refresh at the Kings Arms pub, very friendly staff and delicious pot of tea and Kitkat chunky. Few pubs offer chocolate snacks now! There has been some amazing coastal scenery, woodland trails, and fishing towns which were a delight to discover i.e Looe, Polperro, Polruan and the ferry to Fowey have been especially memorable. Hate to have to quit this walk but knee just says no more, and at least the early signs of blisters probably won't get worse. Relief
