Martha and I enjoyed a short walk along West Saari Road with two close friends. We walked to the Pike River and back, reminiscing about all the wonderful birds we had seen on this road in the past. Today, we enjoyed reconnecting with the joy of birding with old friends with whom we have shared birdwatching for many years. Amazingly, even such a common bird as a female Red-winged Blackbird, under certain viewing conditions of distance and lighting, can re-spark the joy of an identification challenge

Another hike with friends, this time in Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park. I discovered this trail on AllTrails, but I was so taken by its beauty that I have created a komoot highlight of the Onanami Overlook itself.
