Burgau Castle is a moated castle in Düren. It is located in the Burgau Forest on the edge of the Niederau district of Düren.
Unfortunately only a very short lap in the rain, but it's definitely on our to-do when the weather is nicer :-)

The Villenhofer Maar, created through the recultivation of former brown coal mines. A special highlight are the two jetties with benches that extend far into the lake and are surrounded by beautiful carpets of water lilies. Here we were even able to feed the fish by hand in the summer ;-)

There is definitely a lot more to discover here. The Sophienhöhe, also called Monte Sophia, is a recultivated waste dump created by the mining of lignite seams from the Hambach opencast mine.
