For our second day in the Bogesund natural reserve, we took the car to park next to the Bogesund castle. We then hiked to Vaxholm island, following the blue trail.
It has a fantastic seaside path, in the shadow of the trees, between roots. When crossing the bridge to Vaxholm, we arrived on another planet
The Bogesund natural reserve is just north-east of Stockholm, and reachable by car and public transport. The place is big, has several hiking loops, many shelters and fire places, many small parkings.
On our first day, we combined several marked trails to make a bigger loop on the north of the reserve

The Tyresta national park is very close to Stockholm, but there are not many buses going there. For this hike, I combined different marked trails: going through the virgin forest and along the lakes, walking on a section of a long distance trail (Sörmlandsleden), crossing the area where a huge fire burnt

A nice tour starting at the Penningby Castle. Going mainly through the forest, but also on gravel roads. There are some lakes on the way, and access to the sea. We took quite some off-trail ways, it's easy to get lost if you don't know the area. There are fields of huge herbs, so make sure to be vaccinated

Just south of Stockholm, easily accessible by bus and subway, is the beginning of the long-distance hike Sörmlandsleden (1000km total). Here we wanted to hike stage 1 and 2, for a total of ~16km. But the trail was very icy and we had to walk off-trail most of the time. And even like this, most of us
For our third and last day in the Bogesund natural reserve, we explored the west side. We simply followed the orange marked trail, which was a very nice loop. Again, we walked in the forest on small rooty paths, on some wooden planks to avoid the mud. We climbed up a bit, to reach the top of a small
