A very pleasantly warm & sunny joint afternoon walk.
We are going all botanical this month trying to spot whether we were looking at Scottish bluebells or Spanish bluebells or hybrids - not sure which characteristics of each they inherit - maybe it varies.
Anyway we now know that Scottish ones the flowers

A very warm 18C sunny and wind free afternoon when we set out for an extended walk after I had cut the grass
A lovely photo of very colourful Pentlands in the sunlight.
The ground is bone dry with cracks in the clay around Broomhills and the drain in the woods near the garden centre totally dried up.

Today's mission was to donate 20 or so years of accumulated redundant bike parts to The Bike Station.
Brake and gear levers, mechs, stem, cassettes including one brand new, many brake cables, tubes, bottle cages - you name it, it went in.
Very grateful they were too 👍👍

A lovely sunny but very breezy day for a short trip to get theatre tickets which got much extended 🤣
We have finally got round to using the balance of my 70th present from Isabella and Elise, thank you both, but remembering that to use Theatre Vouchers online is a bit of a faff a trip to the Festival

Nicely timed having waited and waited till the rain went away but just enough time before lunch for a windy and, despite the thermometer showing 15C, chill walk which ended with some warmth as the sun came out.
Campsite fairly quiet but much birdsong to be heard including many of the friends of our local

An "anniversary" of a sort for us doing this 20 milers ride as they were heading to Dalkeith memorial park.
Next month's 20 milers being the 9th of May is 17 years to the day that Cathie and I met on the 2009 May ride to Dalkeith Country Park.
A fine sunny if breezy & chill day at around 5C after the earlier

Today's walk was an extended standard round starting by going round Broomhills, wisely we had waterproofs on having set out earlier to cycle to Morningside and not got as far as the end of the road before turning back and taking the car :-(
Clouds were low and threatening most of the time, the bypass

An extended walk was in order after the exercise free day of travelling yesterday.
A very clear still day and sub-zero all day, 13 days out of the solstice and the lengthening of daylight is now just noticeable.
Apart from two dogwalkers we saw no-one on Broomhills track or till we got to Mounthooly where

Today Tue 30th July we opted to cycle the High Peak trail starting at High Peak Junction Nr Cromford where the railway /canal and road all meet.
Unfortunately our plan was thwarted by a closed footbridge and non cycleable diversion. Plan-B, backtrack to Black Rocks and start there where sadly the Badger

Dimminsgdale - 1st of 3 walks on Thursday 27th July 2023.
We wandered lonely as a clueless pair looking for somewhere to do a short walk till the owner of The Stables suggested Dimmingsdale & the Ramblers Retreat and the sculptures set round the lake at JCB (digger fame) world headquarters in Utoxetter

Bright and sunny day, all four of us set off to cycle the Monsal Trail from Bakewell to Blackwell, probably the most interesting and scenic of the White Peak trails with some spectacular rock formations to be seen.
It has 5 or 6 tunnels and 3 massive viaducts in its length.

Various errands needed doing so once the rain looked to have gone for an hour or two we set off the leisurely route to Morningside via Blackford Glen.
It did rain briefly contrary to Rain Today's forecast but only very gently.
Bikes parked at Waitrose the errands in order were Houseproud for varnish for
