Bikepacking Isle of Wight - day 1
A tough day covering major landmarks and off-road trails. We started in Ryde after a quick 20 minutes morning ferry from Portsmouth.
We started climbing pretty much in the first 600m and headed towards the middle, with a stop at the garlic farm and pedalers coffee shop.

A really tough day in the saddle starting with the best possible fuel. We soon start climbing up the grassy Tomen-y-mur and then hit the tarmac for more climbing. The misty weather makes all look more epic than it is, but the rain will make it much harder to ride. A beautiful road section through valleys

An easier day than yesterday, but by no means easy itself. Technical terrain after climbing up from the campsite and going past the Rhinogs and Coed-y-brenin forest, taking some of the Sarn Helen trail north. Finishing at an inn for the night

Lovely first day getting from the Machynllett station (start point) to Barmouth (Bunkorama campsite).

A short but punchy day with the longest climb of the trip, partially tarmac and then mostly offroad up a steep gradient to a fantastic view and descent. A few boggy sections at the end of it followed by some really fun single track descents where we were grateful we had a MTB under us!
From there it's
