Despite the rain, this hike around the Ruhr between Kalterherberg and Monschau was well worth it, including the challenging climb to the Ehrensteinley. It was over rooted paths and asphalt, with the sound of the river constantly in the background. A wonderful end to the three-day hikes in the High Fens and Eifelland.

In the High Fens National Park in eastern Belgium, I enjoyed a lovely walk along and through the marshes of the Roer River. A beautiful boardwalk with frogs, and a common redstart whistled in the bushes. It was a shame about the rain...

A solid 5+ for this beautiful Eifel hike in the Lampertstal Valley between Ripsdorf and Alendorf. Well-marked, with significant climbs and descents through forest and fields. Red kite, kestrel, and once again, a wealth of butterflies. The most beautiful hike of the year.
