Fitting for May, I found May beetles and lily of the valley. But what pleased me most was the small shelduck family; those super sweet little chicks.. - Insane.

Lists of insects and flowers are attached at the back as pictures. Birds included are: White Wagtail, Spotted Flycatcher, Blackcap, Great Crested

The last time I was here, I was still strolling across the frozen Wolletzsee. The first picture this time was a goldcrest. The rest of the day was rather spring-like, almost summery..

The discovery and the photo of the day was certainly the European Pied Flycatcher. A bit strange was the bird sitting right next to it, which (or rather she) didn't seem to be the right matching female. More like another flycatcher lady or a nightingale - but I don't care, the main thing is that the

The halfway complete list of butterfly and plant species can be found in the last pictures. Quite a lot has accumulated..

First off: I hadn't expected a swallowtail - but my recently discovered secret Papillon side valley is always surprising.

The hiking boots weren't even fully on when a peacock crossed our path. Oh man.. how the feathers glitter in the sun..

The last peacock I had seen before.. might have been back in the D-Mark era.. but anyway. Great start to the little tour today.

Along the way, we see deer, bees and bumblebees, pansies

The storks stand out a bit - I rarely see that. And then so close..

. The wisents are a standard motif on the loop near Criewen; sheep are not always, but also often seen - but I've never noticed goats in the area before.

I'm pretty sure I saw a golden oriole right at the beginning - unfortunately, the photo proof is missing. But I caught the bullfinch. Two hares too. And map butterflies in their wonderfully beautiful spring colors, skipper butterflies and little flowers and much more.

And for some reason, there's always

Now that I'm writing this, it's already been three weeks: Spring was finally really picking up speed. In this case, that meant there were early bloomers like hepatica and wood anemones to see, and lungwort – I don't know if that also counts among the early bloomers. Then the blackcaps were back too

Discovered the first slow worm and first blooming wood clover of the year. Pansies and speedwell are also a joy to see on the go again - possibly more inconspicuous than squirrels and red kites; but all the more to marvel at, because they don't just run or fly away.
