A Sunday ride on mostly good paths. Okay, the route through Düren isn't great; the cycling infrastructure is more of a "they tried" approach and doesn't really work. But who could have known that "protected bike lanes" wouldn't be effective? Beyond Düren, however, the route continues on quite good paths

The tour was well worth it. It's great to know the miller personally and get a private tour.

Beautiful route! Especially the section from Berg to Heimbach.

Over the super cycle path on the Königshovener Höhe to Frimmersdorf, then climb to the wind test field. The return route (once again) takes the speedway. A nice, not too long, loop on good, traffic-free paths.

A loop around the Hambach open-cast mine. Via Nordrandstraße to the Terra Nova lookout point, then south, far from the open-cast mine, past the air base, and back via Jakobwüllesheim. It's a shame that the lovely water fountain in Nörvenich is out of service.

Today we headed north through the nature reserve near Wegberg. The outward journey was mostly on good farm roads, while the return journey was mostly on county/country roads. The stretch through the Rur meadows was, as always, very beautiful. Finally, behind Broich, we took the long climb across the

Some of the trails have become unpaved, so they're marked as gravel trails. Once a year, you have to visit Terra Nova and check out the progress. There's still no water in the lake ;-)
Stop at Bauer Moll's farm shop; replenish calories and minerals.

Today I went to Nideggen. For the outward journey, I chose the route via Leversbach and Rath. However, this route is very steep (up to 10%). So, gear up and pedal until you make it. As a reward, I had coffee and apple strudel. Then I returned through Kreuzau and Düren.

In Eschweiler, I tried to find a route away from Cologne Street, but couldn't. Heistern is situated on a hill, but the hard-won elevation gain is immediately lost again. However, you really pick up speed (60 km/h) on the descent to Schevenhütte. Good thing I have disc brakes ;-). The only gravel section
