The Rinnkendlsteig is a hiking trail to return from Bartholomä on foot to Schönau am Königssee. You have to scramble quite a bit, sometimes with the help of fastened steel cables, sometimes on all fours. Start is at the monastery on 600m ÜN and you have to overcome about 2km 600 meters. You are constantly rewarded by breathtaking views of the Königssee and Bartholomä (the photos enclosed just as a foretaste and without GPS tracking). The final boss, before you can reach the summit and continue to hike more easily, is a steep via ferrata over a rock. To our hiking time (end of November) were difficult conditions with leaves and snow, but even in summer we would not be high without the fuse. That is already violent. So we had to turn back, but were not angry because of the special beauty of the Königssee from above. The climb is worthwhile in any case, even if you turn up again.Duration: up and down each about 90 minutes.

In my opinion, a very nice route to climb the chunks: With the bus (as a tourist with paid tax you can drive for free, otherwise a day ticket wauch only wengier than 5 euros) from Wernigerode, Elbingerode, Schierke o. Drive to Ilsenburg, from there through the Ilsetal steadily up to the Brocken up, on the way with beautiful rocks and brilliant views, on the Brocken, go down towards Schierke, on a rough but very entertaining gravel / rock path, until you reach the valley Schierke reached, where one of the bus (hourly in the week, less frequently on weekends) to the hostel returns.
The advantage of this tour by bus: You do not have to walk a single piece twice and the Ilsetal is relatively quiet, as most of the shorter hiking trail Schierke-Brocken choose and drive one direction with the Brockenbahn.This tour is with 20 km quite long and ettlichen height meters exhausting and quite exhausting to run, so rather not recommended, if children are there. But otherwise beautiful and my personal recommendation!October 18, 2019
