About Dirk

Actually, the forecast was for sunshine all day, which is why I had planned a longer hike in the Siebengebirge. Unfortunately, the weather rarely sticks to forecasts, and south of Cologne, it remained rather foggy and overcast throughout the morning. A trip to the Lower Rhine would probably have been

When I still had a mountain bike, I rode this tour regularly. Why not try it on a gravel bike? The trails are narrow and wild, the climbs bumpy and steep. A bit of riding technique definitely helps, especially on the descent from Röttgenhöhe. The intermediate destination is the Glessener Höhe summit

If I have absolutely no idea where to go, I look to see which way the wind is blowing. Today, as usual, from the west. Later, it's northwest. So, a trip north, so I'll have the wind at my back on the way back. So, I went via Bocklemünd, Pesch, Chorweiler, and Rheinkassel onto the dike, then along the

There are certainly better routes to the other side of the Rhine, but this time I took the easiest route, simply through the middle. It's always lovely when everything becomes quiet and rural from Dellbrück onwards. A lovely uphill and downhill stretch to the Kuchen (cake) in Kürten. Then the final

On Carnival Sunday I drove the Roaar classic Milan - Sanremo, a.k.a Frechen - Satzvey. Lots of glass on the streets due to the various carnival processions in the villages. Luckily I got through it unscathed in beautiful, albeit cold, weather. And no joke: just before my front door it was actually 111.1km 🤡
