today we took a dream path under our feet. The Nice Romantic Path has some wonderful sections along the Nice. The way back through the oak forest along the edge of the valley shines with great views. In the further course the path unfortunately leads a good part over tarred dirt roads. However, this cannot diminish the positive overall impression

Today we took advantage of the sunshine and walked the Gerolsteiner Felsenpfad once.We started at the parking lot at the train station. After a few hundred meters we had already reached the outskirts of Gerolstein. From then on, a narrow path, steadily rising, led quickly to the lookout point on the Gerolsteiner Dolomite rocks. From there you have a great view of Gerolstein and the surrounding area.
The path then led first to the Buchenloch cave, which we only looked into briefly. Then it went in a very large right-hand arc in the direction of Kassenburg. On the way we met some colorful stones, all of which looked quite new.
From the Kasselburg it went past Pelm back towards Gerolstein. The path was easy to walk and shouldn't be a big challenge even for inexperienced people.

Today it was the turn of the next dream path, the Monreal accolade.
We started the tour from the parking lot at the train station. From there it went along the Eltz to the starting point of the hike. At the beginning we got a bit out of step because the tour, as you can download it from the Traumpfad page, runs clockwise. At the starting point, however, due to Corona, you will be asked to run the tour counterclockwise.
So quickly reversed the route with Komoot and started over again. First there is a steep climb up to the castle, from where you have a beautiful view of Monreal. Unfortunately the wind was very cold, so we didn't take a closer look at the castle, but went straight on. Now the announcement came several times that there was no path and that we were on the way "Off Grid" although the path, in this case a narrow path through the steep slope, was clearly marked. The path leads past the second castle ruin, which we did not look at. The path led through the steep slope for some time before it released us from the forest a good 100 meters above Monreal. Here we followed a farm road for almost a kilometer before we switched again on a narrow path through the steep slope. This led us downhill again very quickly to the Eltz, which we crossed after a few hundred meters. We continued for a few hundred meters on farm roads before we continued for some time on narrow paths along steep slopes and over a mountain ridge. We had to cross a street, then we went back into the forest and for about two kilometers along the Thüreltz valley. This was followed by another increase. I remember reading in a hiking guide about this tour “the path quickly gained in height…” that means nothing other than “it’s really going up steeply”. So again the 100 meters uphill.Once at the top, it's about three kilometers first on dirt roads along the forest, then across open fields until you get back to the edge of the forest. Once there, there is another descent towards Eltzbach. This is followed again for a good kilometer before the next, this time moderate climb. Then it goes again on a, this time very narrow path through a wooded steep slope along the Eltzbach towards Monreal. You should be careful where you step on this path, as the slope has an angle of 70-80 degrees. After about 800 meters, however, this piece is also done and the path spits out in the new building area of Monreal. After a short stretch through the new development area, it goes back along the Eltz to the historic center of Monreal, which is really worth seeing. The path leads through the winding streets of Monreal until you get back to the old rectory, the start and end of the tour.

Today we have made another dream path, namely the Virne - Burgweg. And we both agree that this has been one of the most successful so far. The creators managed to lead almost the entire route only over unpaved field paths and mostly natural forest paths and paths. We liked this very much. From the hiking car park in front of the parish hall, the path first leads up to the castle ruins and then briefly crosses the town again. Then it follows the Nitzbach for some time. After about 1 kilometer, the path turns left and now leads steadily uphill for a good further kilometer through a narrow valley. Once at the top you can quickly reach the Schafberg from where you can enjoy a wonderful view.
It continues relatively flat towards Blumenrather Heide, from where the path leads down again. At the lower edge of the heather just above the refuge we found a small group of seats from which you had a great view again. And, since the sun was shining so beautifully, we took a really long break and let our soul dangle a bit. From the refuge the path changes to a path (mountain path) which crosses a steep slope and offers great views again and again.
Once at the bottom, cross the Nitzbach again and bypass Virneburg again in a large left-hand bend. From a last vantage point with a beautiful view over Virneburg, you can get back to the starting point in a few minutes.

Relatively easy round from Kelberg towards Rothenbach. The signage is good, you just have to be careful where you follow the mineral spring path sign from the forest path to the right into the bushes. From there, after about 200 meters, go right down the mountain again. The next sign comes a few meters after the junction. Here we have allowed ourselves a few extra parameters.
