The NaturZoo Rheine is home to the largest free-flying white stork colony in North Rhine-Westphalia and all of Germany, with well over 100 breeding pairs and over 120 to 134 nests on the grounds. Most of the nests are located high up in the zoo's treetops.
A great experience to observe this spectacle of the many, many storks.

This wasn't actually planned, but sometimes a journey just takes its own course.
Having almost arrived within sight of the DFDS terminal, the question arose: What to do until the ferry departs? Sitting around idly was out of the question.
So, we quickly consulted Mr. Komoot to see if he had a nice little

Holy Island (Lindisfarne)
The start of the tour was not auspicious: it started raining – and the weather got worse by the minute.
But the goal was clear: it was to go to Holy Island. No matter how, just not by car, but by bike.
So, into the full-body condom and off through the rain.
Since Holy Island, due

This had to be done again today, to see the three bridges up close and cycle across the middle classic suspension bridge back and forth 🚲
The three bridges over the Firth of Forth near South Queensferry form a unique ensemble from three centuries of bridge construction:
Forth Bridge (1890): The iconic

The tour was planned from CP Loch House Farm in Linlithgow to the Kelpies and on to the spectacular water lift, the Falkirk Wheel.
The outward journey was actually supposed to lead along a canal path. However, this was repeatedly closed. The reason: There was no more water in the canal, which had caused

Today's circular tour from St. Andrews to the beautiful little harbour town of Crail.
The route led through a strongly agricultural region with huge fields full of cereals, potatoes, legumes and various types of cabbage.
This Scotland is clearly different from the image one usually knows: instead of large

The bike tour led from the beautiful city of St. Andrews, initially taking a few small detours in the direction of Dundee, to the front of the impressive railway bridge over the Tay. From there, it continued to Tayport, a small harbor town.
Further away from the coastal path, through an agriculturally

Anyone visiting Stonehaven in Scotland 🏴 usually has two special destinations in mind first: the „Stonehaven War Memorial“ and the impressive „Dunnottar Castle“. Afterwards, a leisurely stroll through the town itself is worthwhile.
The Stonehaven War Memorial is located south of the town on Black Hill

You simply have to be patient here in Scotland, as the weather usually turns for the better around midday.
So, around midday, the bike was made ready and we set off on the planned tour, which led us through very beautiful landscape sections again and again along the entire route.
Initially, the itinerary

A tour that began with dark clouds and soon turned into heavy, prolonged rain. Of course, I had anticipated the weather and was wrapped from head to toe in my "full-body condom" 😊. While this doesn't necessarily increase the fun factor, the tour simply had to be done.
The first destination was Cawdor
