Discover a new piece of Aukrug. It was worth it. All natural forest paths, no one there. Surprising things keep popping up. Small brooks with small self-made bridges become a natural obstacle course. Enjoy the sun by the ponds and listen to the frog concert. It continues up and down through the forest. There are many more ways through the wood removal than are shown at Komoot. So our tour has become shorter than originally planned, but the way over the ridge was worth it.

Today another tour, also on the Baltic Sea, only a few kilometers from Gelting. Different weather and a completely different mood. The wind is noticeably icy, hail showers pass by again and again. Then again the sun, which enchants the Baltic Sea in the most beautiful colors. The turquoise was really what it looks like in the photos. The sound of the sea accompanies us. Here it is almost deserted and, surprisingly, also empty of birds. Hundreds of birds could be heard and seen in the Geltinger Birk, and there was absolute silence.

This time there were many beautiful shells at the water's edge. Some were allowed to go home to tinker with. The sea was rather calm, the sun was shining, towards the land it was rather hazy. Momme was happy and had found a bitch who also liked to play. The only seagull wanted to be on the photo and was very talkative.
Actually, we had hoped for fish sandwiches in St.Peter Bad, but it was closed on Wednesdays. Luckily Jannis had ice cream on and so there were delicious waffles.

A wonderful tour through nature. Forest, open spaces and water alternate here again and again. The paths are mostly natural and have a soft, pleasant surface. Few are a bit muddy, short stretches are paved.
Since I have never seen the beaver felling work in person, I was particularly excited about it and was not disappointed either. The beavers have chosen a spot that is right next to a resting place. What do you think brought you to this decision?
At the end, the discovery that the burial mounds here are called Dithmarscher Mountains.
Because there is nothing else in Dithmarschen that justifies the term mountains?
Thanks Karin and Uli for sharing and describing this area, which is otherwise not to be discovered at first glance. We will come back to discover more.

A hike in the most beautiful spring weather through a wonderful landscape. There is a lot of nature here. Our path leads us along the fish ponds that still have an ice cover. Over the main road it goes again past the fish ponds into the forest. There are many paths here, the forest is mostly natural and changes again and again. On the way back it goes through heathland and then on the boardwalk with its nature trail. The typical moorland areas have formed on both sides of the Bohlenweg.
Even though it was a Saturday, this area wasn't really crowded. We always had stretches on which we were completely alone. Due to the often sandy bottom, there is little mud and when it does, it is easy to get around.
A landscape that is sure to exude its magic in every season. We will definitely be back soon.

At my doorstep, the side streets are freeze-dried and therefore free of ice and snow. Now 15km further on there was fresh snow and the roads below were icy. We snuck along the edge. Since I had to concentrate so much on walking, there are only a few cell phone photos. In the end there was a snow shower with really thick flakes. On the way home, the road was barely visible, everything was white. A few kilometers further on everything was free again.

Storm and sun, ideal weather for Saint Peter. Right at the beginning fish rolls on hand, at the moment a rare pleasure. At the sea you can feel the forces of nature. The sea was so rough as I have seldom seen it. In the background, peaks of waves splashing high piled up. Fortunately, we decided to cross the bridge first so that we could walk with the wind. Conversely, it would have been really exhausting. Tjorva didn't think it was great either. It was too cold and windy for her. Since she can no longer hear well and sometimes loses orientation, I no longer let her walk without a leash. Since she was always allowed to do this on the beach, it didn't exactly increase her mood. Momme thought it was just great and had a lot of fun hunting the foam flakes. The sky showed itself in the most beautiful colors and provided with the blowing sand for very special pictures. Back through the dunes it was clearly windless and Tjorva was in a good mood again because there was a lot to sniff.

Komoot sometimes gives you wings. In the middle of the lap, a triangle appeared on the map as a run route. The speed increased to 19km / h. No matter ways, no matter rivers. I went with Komoot to record the tour. Then nothing was right for a moment. I also can't prune it to get correct. The inclines are also really remarkable
The tour was very beautiful due to the sun's rays, which always illuminated individual patches of forest. The paths are varied and you can always choose between smaller paths and wider paths. Most of them are easy to walk on and hardly muddy at this time either.

The second route that day. In between picnic in the car and then started again from Dänisch Nienhof.
Follow the signs to the beach from the parking lot and then continue on the cliff path.
Here, too, you can hear the rustling of the Baltic Sea, the view from the steep coast is completely different. The path leads directly past some breaks. There the dogs come on a leash so that they are secured against falling. Back down on the beach they get their freedom again. There were hardly any other people either up on the path or on the beach. So we could fully immerse ourselves in this landscape designed by nature. Take a deep breath and enjoy, that is also possible on a gray day.
It was exciting to watch the seagull that had caught a large fish and tried to swallow it all the way down.
