Very scenic Dales ride. Lots of hills and the climb out of Arncliffe is hard. I definitely underestimated the number of calories I needed for this one

I have mixed thoughts about this ride. On the right day the scenery would be great (I did it on a wet grey day unfortunately) and it’s virtually all on very quiet roads. There is a lot of climbing involved but on the plus side once you get to half way, you’re done with the steepest gradients. Also worth

This was a fab route with amazing scenery on quiet roads. The return via Fleet Moss is tough but even if you do have to get off and push for a few hundred metres (and you might not) then the rest of the ride more than makes up for that. As with any of these routes that go over high ground, best save

My aim for this one was to tackle Hartwith Bank which is a good test of the legs. Have tagged this as a gravel ride as there’s a section on the outward leg that you probably wouldn’t want to do on narrow and expensive road wheels and slick tyres (I did it ok on 30mm tyres, a bit bumpy but not technical

A ride from Ilkley towards Bolton Abbey and then a loop over Barden moor then back to Ilkley. Generally very quiet roads, great views from up on the moor (could be very unpleasant up there on a windy day) and there’s the option to go via Langbar on the way out and/or back if you want more elevation

The main feature of this route is the climb of Old Church Lane after about 10km with gradients around 20%. The opening loop is a nice warmup for Church Lane. After that it’s a nice ride on mostly traffic free roads. The only other word of caution is the moor after Church Lane is very open and might be

This was a really good ride with very little time spent on main roads (there’d have been even less except for a closed road which blocked a left turn towards Hampsthwaite). The cycleway from Ripley to Harrogate is pretty just be prepared to slow down as it’s shared with walkers. Even crossing the centre

There’s one little section on the return leg that’s sign posted as a dead end but it takes you down an off road track for a short distance - it’s perfectly fine on a road bike particularly in summer

Lovely scenic ride. The climb out of Askrigg is savage but does have some steps in the gradient to recover a little (if you did the loop in the other direction the climb out of Muker starts with a wall that I think would be harder). The other word of warning would be not to attempt this ride on a windy
