Lovely scenic walk mostly along towpaths. Very muddy in winter months in the woody section and certain parts of the towpath. Sheep in some fields and footpath from Woodside Farm back to towpath not obvious across a field so need to make sure you’ve checked the OS map. Parking is limited at the start point.

Easy walk across rolling farmland. Likelihood of farm animals and wildlife - roe and muntjac in hedgerows plus buzzards and kites flying above. Best in good weather as footpaths are very muddy in the wet.

Easy parking at the Stratton crossing. Circular walk which takes in the old part of Brixworth village, including the Saxon Church. Lovely views from the top of the hill. Suitable for most ages and abilities, although not for pushchairs.

If winter mud is making cycling difficult then try exploring Northampton’s parks by bike. The Racecourse is a flat circular bike ride and Abington Park has a cafe if you need a coffee half way round the tour.

An easy walk, just over 2 miles. Bit of canal, bit of fields, short bit of quiet road. Pleasant any time of year.

A lovely circular walk along tow paths and easily navigable farm tracks. Pretty flat - just a little rolling farmland towards the end. Crosses several bridges. Easy, free car park.

Easy walk around the National Trust’s Belton Park. Entry fee to park the car but parkland has miles of walks, toilets, cafe and an adventure playground. Lots of fallow deer roaming the park. Beautiful old oaks and native trees.

Miles of footpaths round the grounds of Wimpole Hall. Walk up to the Folly for great views. Children will enjoy the farm animals - goats, pigs, rare cattle breeds and shire horses. Can spend all day here.

Great walk for a fine day. Easy terrain and lovely views over the marshes to the sea.
The White Horse pub had tables that looked out to sea for a welcome drink after the walk. You can also get crab sandwiches from a kiosk at Brancaster harbour, if you want a bite to eat.

A lovely circular walk across fields (take care as lots of sheep) and through Badby Woods. It’s quite hilly but some stunning views across rolling countryside. You walk through some pretty villages and it feels like going back in time as very quiet. (If walking with dogs then note that there are lots

A great walk for history fans. You can park in the village but we went to Canons Ashby house first (National Trust) and parked in their car park. The house is closed atm but the parks and gardens are open if you book a ticket for a slot. The walk takes you through the quaint village of Morton Pinkney

Rolling fields in typical English countryside. A lovely walk that’s all off-road and quiet. Good for dogs (a few water stops en route) and easy walking trails.

An easy flat walk in quiet location. Only 3 miles but great for bird-watching. Lots of bird hides en route.
