After two days of problems with my ankle, I woke up without any issues and ran the first 23 km to Fresnillo easy where I stopped for some Tacos 😋. My original plan had been to stop there and give my body some time to recover, but since my ankle felt good I decided to skip the break and pushed on for 49 km 💪🏃‍♂️.

Although the ankle pain is gone now, the past weeks are starting to take their part on my body. I have lost a lot of weight and haven't been so skinny since crossing the Sahara desert with food poisoning during my Cape to Cape ride 🙈.

A few kilometres before reaching my daily target, cycling enthusiast Miguel passed by and invited me to his family place for the night 😴. Now I am approaching Zacatecas City, where I will arrive tomorrow afternoon 🤗💪.

Tough day on the endless straight hills towards Zacatecas. My ankle was still hurting parts of the day, but I pushed for 42 km and found a nice camping spot inside a church building 😁 also had company by a local cyclist who is cycling all the states of Mexico 🇲🇽
I hope it feels better tomorrow and will otherwise take an easy day with 26 km to Fresnillo to give my ankle a chance to recover.

After exploring the historic city sombrerete in the morning, I ran out with a cyclist and police escort, which followed me all day through the hills towards Zacatecas. After around 25 km I got some pain in my ankle that got worse in the afternoon and I stopped after 41 km. I had been pain free over the past few weeks, so hopefully I will recover over night and this isn't developing in anything bad. I am currently not in a region to wild camp and have 65 km ahead of me tomorrow to Fresnillo 💪
Today I also had the first sign of Mexico City and the halfway mark 🎯 only 650 km to run 🤗

I left Vicente Guerrero together with a few runners and started the long ascend into The Sierra de los Organos. At the state border to Zacatecas a group of local cyclist waited and joined the final 30 km through hills and agriculture land before descending into the beautiful town of Sombrerete.

A little later start today after some sightseeing around the beautiful village "Nombre de Dios" and also due to a bit tired legs after more than 200 km in just 4 days 💪
The municipality had organised an escort out of the village and some runners and cyclists joined for the entire way to Vicente Guerrero, were I also received a fantastic welcome 😁.

Now I am approaching the state of Zacatecas after an amazing week in Durango. I met so many great people here and of course "Coqueta" who already moved into her house 🐕.

A happy end for "La Coqueta" the strongest dog in Mexico 🐕😁.

This morning I set off from Durango with the local running community and La Coqueta who has joined me for 130 km over the past days 💪. Someone back in her hometown adopted her and after joining for another 20 km today, she was driven back to El Salto where she got a medal and well deserved heroes welcome from the local community🥇.

She has been a great companion for the past days, but with my lifestyle and the crazy traffic ahead, she is much better off with a great family that will take care of her. She will also continue running marathons with the local running club, who is super excited to have her back. Hasta luego Coqueta 😍.

      Hello from Durango 😁!

I set off early to start the long descent into Durango. The dog was still beside my tent and joined for another 50 km today. More and more local runners joined as I was approaching the city through the beautiful Sierra and deep canyons.

We run fast, and I got a great reception by the city who then showed me their historic city, and we went to eat Scorpion on a local market 🦂😅.

Great progress and happy to have a bit of time to explore the city before setting off tomorrow at 10 am towards Zacatecas 🏃‍♂️💪. I also hope to find a new home for the dog here. So please send me a message if you want to adopt her in Durango!

In the morning I run out of El Salto with great company by the local running club and a dog 🐕. The last runner turned around during lunch, but the dog continued following me and I couldn't make him stop. We continued running through the endless pine forest high up in the sparsely populated Sierra and found a great camping spot just when the thunderstorm arrived 😅 50 km done and tomorrow I will descend into the capital of Durango 🤗.

P.s. the dog is very cute, but unfortunately I can't keep him.

Continuing my run through the incredible Sierra Madre Occidental 😁 after a bit of sightseeing yesterday around La Ciudad, I climbed further up to the highest point of my run at 2.800 meters ⛰️.

The landscape has changed to endless pine forest and a constant up and down at high elevation. It's rainy season here, and I arrived just on time before the thunderstorm to El Salto where I got a great reception from the municipality 😁.

47 km done and now approaching Durango City.

In the morning I climb up to the highest point of my route on an amazing winding road. Then I get an invitation a bit ahead with some sightseeing to waterfalls and stop early as this region is simply amazing. Need to explore it and am ahead of schedule 😁.
