Where the Neetze leaves the hilly moraine landscape of the Nordheide and enters the wide Elbmarsch, the Neetzer Mühle lies at the river crossing the road from Lüneburg to Bleckede. Already in 1314 it is mentioned as a mill of the Michaelis Monastery in Lüneburg, which gives it to the noble family of Estorff in 1421, whose estate is still a bit above the mill on the edge of Neetzeniederung and the mill was owned until 1967. In the 19th century, the mill worked with two grinding operations and was used as oil and fulling mill. Lastly, the mill was powered by a turbine and had two roller mills and a shotgun, a capacity of one tonne per day. In the early 1970s, however, it was only sporadically put into operation and finally completely shut down in 1977, the equipment of the mill is preserved to this day. In 1983, the mill building with its residential area was renovated and currently there is a restoration of the mill and especially of the turbine for power generation.
