The first mentioned in 1327 water mill had to survive in their long existence many times of need. In 1642, during the Thirty Years' War, Swedish soldiers burnt down the mill and the miller's house. While the mill was quickly rebuilt, delayed due to lack of funds, the new construction of the residential building. Only when the tenant "public support" by a 1-year remission of the Erbzinses and free provision of the necessary timber was awarded, the reconstruction could be completed. In 1668, the mill operation was endangered by severe dilapidation. Again, this condition could only be overcome with the help of the princely chamber in Celle. In 1920, the mill wheel broke, and since then the old watermill stands still. After a decades-long slumber, it was restored to residential use by the initiative of the new owners who acquired the timber-framed building in 1998. The existing mill technology was preserved and the waterwheel was renewed with the financial support of the NMS project.

Nice little watermill, in very good condition (restored about 20 years ago). The watermill is in a quiet area, on the Mausetalbach. The building is not open to the public, but the mill is also beautiful to look at from the outside.
