O Trans Swiss Trail de Porrentruy a Mendrisio é uma das rotas mais variadas da Suíça. Atravessará paisagens pintorescas, conhecerá as diferentes culturas do país e passará por muitos locais históricos. Ao longo do caminho, encontrará lagos bonitos e picos majestosos, aldeias encantadoras e cidades impressionantes. Durante 32 etapas oficiais e 520 quilômetros (323 milhas) de caminhada, experimentará o melhor da Suíça.
Esta Coleção guia-o através de três diferentes regiões linguísticas, desde a parte francófona da Suíça até a região alemã e depois até a região italiana. Também experimentará essa maravilhosa diversidade na arquitetura e na comida.
O Trans Swiss Trail começa na pequena cidade de Porrentruy. Daí, leva-o pelas montanhas onduladas de Jura e até o distrito dos lagos perto de Berna. Em seguida, caminhará pelo idílico Emmental e chegará ao impressionante Lago Lucerna. Caminhos históricos o guiam até o Passo de Gotthard, o ponto mais alto do Trans Swiss Trail.
Do lado sul do passo, a paisagem e o clima mudam. Verá a influência italiana nas aldeias idílicas e na flora e fauna mediterrânicas. Em seguida, a rota continua pela sofisticada cidade de Lugano até os impressionantes pontos de vista sobre o Lago Lugano. Finalmente, chega à cidade de Mendrisio, o destino final da sua aventura, conhecida pelos seus edifícios históricos.
Cada etapa termina em uma cidade ou vila com uma boa escolha de alojamento. No entanto, durante a alta temporada, deve reservar o seu alojamento com antecedência. Graças à extensa rede de transportes públicos, pode encurtar a maioria das rotas pegando em um autocarro ou teleférico. Tanto o ponto de partida como o destino do Trans Swiss Trail têm uma estação ferroviária. Se quiser caminhar apenas uma secção da trilha e não toda a rota, pode, por exemplo, caminhar apenas até Berna ou Stans no Lago Lucerna.
