Südheimer Platz originated with the Südheim housing estate (1901–1903) north of the Old Shooting Club (1895), both built by the Stuttgart architect Karl Hengerer. Since 1929, the Stuttgart funicular has connected Heslach with the Waldfriedhof cemetery, which is located higher up, from Südheimer Platz. The eastern edge development was built around 1928, including the now listed Bauhaus-style Ziegelklinge housing estate. Today, the Südheim housing estate, as well as the Old Shooting Club, are protected as a whole as a historic monument.

From this platform you have a view over the Südheimer Platz to the forest cemetery. For a short break several benches are available, but they are already a bit rusty.
