    The tube bridge is one of the few remaining covered old wooden bridges in Germany. Since 1535, clean drinking water from the Reinsdorfer and Pöhlauer Grund has been fed into the city by means of pierced tree trunks. Often torn away by floods, this bridge was given its current form in 1790.

                  The listed tube footbridge was built in 1790.

                  The 60 m long footbridge spans the Zwickauer Mulde. Inside the footbridge there were wooden tubes - hence the name. Spring water flowed through the wooden tubes across the river into the city. Today the tube footbridge is used by pedestrians and cyclists. We checked the structure according to DIN 1076 and created the building log using historical and modern documents.

                  The managing director of the Holzhausen GmbH engineering office for wood and construction is a publicly appointed and sworn expert (IHK) for wood protection in bridge construction, he works for courts, authorities and construction companies throughout Germany.
