Robert Schumann was born in 1810 on Zwickau's main market square, where the Robert Schumann House was opened in 1956. Today it houses the world's largest collection about him and his wife Clara Wieck. In addition to his birthplace, the exhibition rooms also contain numerous manuscripts, original portraits and works from his father August Schumann's publishing house.

In the chamber music hall on the ground floor, music lovers can experience sophisticated concerts. Special exhibitions are regularly presented in the foyer.
