Famous Apennine pass, the Muraglione stands out from all the others due to a large wall, in fact, on its top. It was wanted, in the first half of the 19th century, by the engineer Alessandro Manetti to offer wayfarers shelter from the strong wind that still blows on the ridge.

The Muraglione Pass (907 m above sea level) is a pass of the Apennines located in the province of Florence, in the municipality of San Godenzo, 6 kilometers south of the administrative boundary between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna and allows to cross Mugello and reach Florence. The state road 67 "Tosco-Romagnola" passes through it.

Formerly a mule track, the road became a carriageway in 1836 by the will of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold II. At the same time, a canton house, a lodge and a stone wall were built on the pass in order to offer travelers a shelter from the strong wind of the ridge (hence the origin of the name). The pass is an important place of the Great Apennine hike, but it is also very popular with cyclists and motorcyclists.
