Wessels Broend or Torvet Springvand. Built in 1929 and tried on different locations. Now the Mermaid Fountain has gotten its final stand as I call it. Three wonderful mermaids raise their playmate to the queen. But be careful during the visit, very close are injection nozzles embedded in the floor which let the unsuspecting viewer get wet.

The Havfruebrønden fountain is much more than just a fountain in Svendborg's city center. This impressive sculpture was created in 1929 by the artist Niels Hansen Jacobsen and forms an aesthetic interplay of bronze mermaids, fish, and a stylish basin.
With its eventful history—from its original installation to several moves within the city to its current location at Torvet—the figure tells not only of art, but also of the transformation of public space.
