From here you can take large (car) ferries to Ærø and a micro-ferry to Hjortø.
Great for excursions: the ferry to Ærø runs almost every hour, and bus travel on the island is included. Ærøskobing is definitely worth it, as is Marstal. To prepare: We Drowned, by Carsten Jensen. The island is big, has everything, and you can easily spend your whole vacation there.

At the ferry port there is the old Hotel Ærø - highly recommended.
