Elmshorn is an efficient medium-sized center in the northwest of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Internationally known companies form the economic basis of the city on the Krückau, which has more than 52,000 inhabitants. In terms of population, it is the sixth largest city in Schleswig-Holstein after the state capital of Kiel, Lübeck, Flensburg, Neumünster and Norderstedt.

The current St. Nikolai church was built in 1661. The picture shows the church from the old market.

Elmshorn shows itself as a modern and dynamic city, at the center of which is the St. Nikolai Church, built in 1661, which is considered one of the most beautiful in the region. The cityscape is characterized by modern residential and commercial buildings as well as numerous buildings from the Wilhelminian period and Art Nouveau.
