The imposing rock formation near the Fuchsmühler Forsthaus is not only a popular and easily accessible hiking destination. The Hackelstein is a monumental rock fortress at an elevation of approximately 723 meters near Fuchsmühl in the heart of the Stone Forest, which can be climbed without any climbing. Stone steps lead to the very top. The final section to the viewing platform is accessed via a small wooden bridge.

The Hackelstein is definitely worth a visit – even if you don't get a view of the distance from the top. The climb up the stairs isn't complicated. The area below the rock is also very beautiful, with seating areas that invite you to take a break and linger.
