Located at 2,070 meters above sea level, it is one of the 5 lakes of Valgoglio, reachable via the path that starts from Bortolotti di Valgoglio and passes on the shores of Lake Nero. It also gives its name to the Aviasco pass which above it and allows the connection with the refuge Gemelli Lakes and the Frati valley.

The Lago d'Aviasco is one of the 5 lakes of Valgoglio, which can all be explored in a great round trip during a day hike. It has a size of 70,500 square meters. The other lakes: Lago Nero, Lago Campelli, Lago Sucotto and Lago Cernello.
