    The prince-bishop Hofburg garden looks back on a long and rich history: first documented in the middle of the 13th century, it is not only one of the few preserved orchards, but is probably also the oldest historically documented tree garden on the continent. Together with the Herrengarten and the Hofburg, the Hofburggarten is today under direct conservation. While the prince-bishop's utility and pleasure garden was reserved for the clergy for centuries, the secluded jewel has now been made accessible to the general public as a place of cultural recreation and meeting place.

          Hofgarten is right next to Hofburg, the small garden nearby. Giardino di corte is an oasis of calm in the bustling city center of Brixen . The Hofgarten is a Renaissance garden originally built in 1570 next to the Bishop's Court (now open to the public thanks to the Diocesan Museum). Renovated in 1992 according to a plan from 1831 and finally made available to visitors. In the western part of the garden there are still parts of the original medieval city wall; in the eastern part is the Kutscherhof with the closed restaurant. Hofgarten Brixen offers a limited number of seating options to enjoy the tranquility and the beauty of the plants.
