The bronze figure of the Michaelsbrunnen on the White Tower represents the patron of the Brixen parish church, St. Michael as a dragon slayer. On the occasion of the 1050th anniversary of the city of Brixen in autumn 1951, the Albuingasse was redesigned and a new fountain was built on the White Tower, which was inaugurated on October 28, 1951.

In the municipality of Brixen, the fountains are marked with a plaque that clearly states whether it is drinking water or not. Drinking water flows from around thirty fountains in the city area.
