The Goetheanlagen are part of the so-called Schrotegrünzuges. This green corridor accompanies the district of Stadtfeld the course of the shot, which winds from the east, partly meandering through the Magdeburg urban area and flows north of Magdeburg in the Elbe.

Already after the destruction of Magdeburg in the Thirty Years' War in 1631, the first gardens with garden sheds were built here. However, these were destroyed in the early 18th century in the course of the expansion of the fortress Magdeburg again.

In the eastern area of the Schrotegrünzuges but poor farms were created again in the mid-19th century, which were extended to the south of today's Goetheanlagen after 1900 to numerous allotments.

With the expansion of the Goethestraße at the turn of the century, the Goetheanlagen 1906/1907 got their present appearance: Generous seating and play areas and meadow areas were created and there was a traffic-free connection between the city center and the eastern urban areas Stadtfeld and Diesdorf.
