The market square is the central square in the historic old town of Goslar. Numerous important buildings adjoin it. Probably the most important of these is the town hall, built in the Gothic style, which houses the representative tribute hall with its magnificent paintings inside. Another striking building is Kaiserworth, built in 1494, the former guild hall of the cloth merchants. This richly decorated house was intended to showcase the wealth and influence of the Goslar citizens. Today it houses a hotel and a restaurant.

Probably the most striking building on the market square is the town hall, originally built in the Gothic style. For centuries the building was expanded and its face changed again and again.
