The Reppin Castle was never really a castle, but was built as an artificial ruin in 1907. The artificial ruin was built the way it looks today: a tower and a small piece of wall.
The wall and tower can be reached via a staircase. From up there you have a wonderful view of Lake Schwerin.
Such artificial ruins were apparently in fashion at the time. In the Ludwigslust Castle Park, for example, there is an artificial grotto in the style of a medieval castle ruin, although this is about 120 years older than the Reppin Castle.

Reppin Castle is not directly on the cycle path, but the short detour is still worthwhile. From the top you have a beautiful view of the Schwerin Inner Lake.

Reppin Castle – a castle tower ruin artificially created in 1907 as a lookout point and tourist destination – is located on the southern shore of Lake Schwerin.

From the viewing platform, you have fantastic views of Lake Schwerin,
the two islands of Kaninchenwerder and Ziegelwerder, and the skyline of Schwerin.

Below the castle is a beautiful, natural swimming area.

Although the castle was "artificially" created as a ruin, I still find it fascinating
and well-executed. When I discovered it years ago, I was immediately impressed.
