The village of Romanovo is 40 miles from Vladimir and 7 miles from Suzdal. The village of Romanovo is mentioned in the "royal charter to the Suzdal Pokrovsky Convent of the Virgin Mary of 1606", by which Tsar Vasily Ivanovich confirms the estates donated by previous tsars and various persons for the monastery. Another confirmation charter for the village of Romanovo was given to the Pokrovsky Convent by Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich in 1623. In 1764, after the abolition of the monastery estates, Romanovo passed to the jurisdiction of state property.
The existing stone church in the village, with a similar bell tower, was built through the zeal of parishioners in 1795 with the blessing of His Grace Victor, Bishop of Suzdal and Vladimir.
