The Kapfweg trail from the Meschach district (750 m above sea level) in the municipality of Götzis (Vorarlberg) is a marked hiking trail (alpine trail) that leads past the Schreckkopf mountain and from there runs in a relatively straight line for about 1,600 meters, close to a limestone cliff (Schreck), to the northeast, gaining 272 meters in altitude.

This blue / white marked alpine trail definitely requires surefootedness and a head for heights. It is sometimes quite narrow and exposed. The narrow path leads directly from the rock for a while and the view of this rock is just awesome, what I love, just like the narrow path itself.

The entrance is a bit difficult to see because it looks more like a small rain run. This path is just terrific and a real experience. It is sometimes very steep uphill, and in some places a bit sandy. As lowland Tyroleans, we found the sticks to be extremely helpful here, so the path was easily manageable. The narrow places are always secured with rope, so there was also a mental aid. Only at the exit is a sign with a warning notice attached, which makes sense from my point of view, as the path in my opinion has a significantly increased degree of difficulty.

So I'm not really free from giddiness, but the path was still manageable for me. In some places there were weak knees, but the safety ropes on the rock provide some security. Just don't look up or down while you're running, and you'll be fine. It was definitely worth it, the path is a real experience.

The Götzner way up to the Kapf.

Partly very exposed, and steeply sloping into the forest, but well secured with steel cables at the delicate places. For a change, an Alpinerweg is marked too blue.

Speaking of "alpine way": Such trails with alpine character only 2oo or 300 vertical meters from the valley, are very rare in Vorarlberg. With the Witele Cave and the Via Kessi / Via Kapf two real highlights await the hiker on the way.

In case of rain or snow, this is definitely not recommended.

Warning: danger of falling rocks!
The path is simply magnificent. The rock face, which you can also climb, is particularly gigantic. However, we did wish we had helmets at times. A lot of things came down from above. It wasn't anything big, but if in doubt it's enough ;), and it all passed us by. But caution is still advised!
