The brick pattern of the Russian style becomes widespread in Borisoglebsk at the end of the 19th century. In the second half of the 1880s, the building of the merchant club appears, on the main facade of which, along with classical motifs, large-scale elements of the Russian style are used.

In 1915, the merchant club was transferred to the private gymnasium of Serafima Vasilyevna Orzhevskaya. Subsequently, it was transformed into a secondary educational institution with a course of girls' gymnasium.
